I missed you!

Hi!  I've missed you.  Sorry it has taken me so long to write a new blog.  My crazy life has gotten surreal (people are starting to know who I am, can you believe it? Yeah, me either—it's insane).

Let me bring you up to speed on what I've been doing since Indebted was released on Kindle.  I was formatting the file to upload to Smashwords.com so that I could have them act as my aggregator to publish Indebted on Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Sony, etc.  But...I have since been reconsidering that option.  I have two reasons for not uploading the Indebted file to Smashwords:

The first is because Smashwords still hasn't been successful in uploading Intuition to Barnes and Noble or Apple.  It's been over 2 months.  That is totally unacceptable.  I pointed this out to them and they admitted it was an error on their part, but they still haven't fixed it.

The second reason is that Smashwords doesn't have DRM (digital rights management) available for my books.  That means it is easy for pirates to take my work and sell it on their websites.  Don't get me wrong; I don't mind as much if you read it for free—I want to get my work into libraries and other places where it is accessible.  I allow you to freely share your books with one another on Kindle (I have the option not to do that, but I think it's cool to share it with your friends).  I do mind, however,  if you have to pay for it on a pirate site, get a really inferior product that you can't even return, and then they keep all the profits.  It seems a little unfair to me.

So now I have to figure out how to protect my digital books when they're not sold on Amazon.com (because Amazon is the man and does it for me on their site.   Thank you, Amazon, for being completely awesome like that).  Anyway, that is a problem I'm trying to solve.  (I know Nook people; I feel your pain!  This is bad news!  I'm sorry!  Go ahead and vent your frustration here.  You are entitled.  I want to work directly with B&N for you so that you can get it.  I will figure it out.  Apple iPad/iPhone people: there is a free app for Kindle that you can download so that you can buy my eBooks directly from Amazon for your Apple devices, so I'll figure out Apple after B&N.)  Kobo and Sony e-reader people, we might be in trouble.  I don't know how to protect my content on your sites.  I'll research that as well.

Also, I'm working on Incendiary.  I really liked keeping all of you updated on the progress of Indebted.  It gave you insight into where I was in the publishing process and it gave me an avenue to "talk" about it with people who get it and who want to know about my books and publishing in general (because you are a rare species I've only found on the internet).  It was also really cathartic, like having a journal that talks back and gives advice.  It was priceless, so I'm doing it again.  (See that new page at the top of my blog that says, "Incendiary Updates?" Yeah, that's it.)

I have to say now that I haven't answered anyone on this blog in a couple of weeks.  I know! I completely suck!  I'll definitely work on that going forward.  I really want to try to respond to everyone because you are important to me.  (You guys are growing in number, which I love, but I'm a little afraid I'll neglect you—we'll see how it goes.)

Okay, so like before, feel free to ask me about publishing, or my books/ the characters, or you can tell me about the music you love.  I read it all, even if I haven't responded due to the insanity that is my life.  So here we go, I'm about to post my first Incendiary blog.  Check it out! :)  Thank you!

Amy, don't be unfair to yourself...

Your work is amazing, and of course a lot of people wants to know you better.

I was waiting for a good version for my iphone. I got used to read on the bus or any place...

I live in Chile, a Faaaaar away country... it's so difficult to get things through amazon. Some people does some illegal bussines with that and at the end nothing arrives.

I'm getting indebted anyway, i've been waiting for so long... but let me tell you that everytime I pass by a library, I die to see one of your books.

Well, let me tell u that your books should be sold in every corner. The stories are so welll developed that once you start reading it's impossible to stop!

I'll get indebted and I'll be stalking ur site to geet Incendiary...

Your fan,
Nathalie Torres.

Amy your work is amazing!!! please keep us up to date on how Sony readers can get your Ebooks.....I own a brand new Sony but am tempted to go out and get a Kindle just so I can order your book! I'll Boycott Smashwords if it hurries the process. Thanks for sharing on your blog, you're so honest and inspiring ( :

As much as your fans love hearing back from you, I think they will realize that the more popular you get the more impossible it will be for you to message us and we will all appreciate the amount of time you devoted to our questions while you could! You're going to have way too many fans to respond to in the very near future!!

Indebted is pure brilliance and I can't wait for Incendiary to come out. Please keep us updated on the Kindle release. (I'm in Aus, so that's how I get your books.)

I've told everyone I can about your wonderful books, so I'm sure that the word is spreading. Besides, who couldn't possibly fall in love with Evie and Reed? You even make the "bad" guys seem nice, in their own strange way.

Btw - woke up this morning after finishing Indebted last night, and had a random song pop into my head, after I was obviously dreaming / thinking about how Reed was feeling (and probably Russell too) when they thought they lost Evie. It was "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" by Backstreet Boys. So I listened to it, and it fits with Brennus too. (Well, maybe not ALL the words for all of them.)

Please, please, please make Indebted available through Kobo! Their website says you can enable DRM on your books (they reference the security matters section in the vendor guidelines).

Amy, you are awesome! I read Indebted and I wish it was longer! I need the rest of the story! Why do we not get Reed's point of view in the books? I would really love a chapter from his view, just saying :^) Please write Incendiary quickly, because I NEED to know what happens next! Indebted was so wonderful and I really could feel and understand what Evie was going through. You did an amazing job! Keep up the great work and hurry, hurry....we need more Evie and Reed!!! Thanks for such an awesome series!!!

If you want really good DRM protection Apple is the best. It is not currently cracked. All DRM on other sites can easily be cracked and distributed by pirates. I prefer to buy the books myself so I ensure there is a next one to read. I can't stand not knowing what happens! Love your books! Keep up the good work.

I really hope you can find a way to have Indebted on Kobo. I just finished the first 2 books of the series and I am hooked. The funny part is, I am an athiest and I am truly enjoying the series. Of course, I can't wait to read as to what happens next. And then of course book 4. I will keep checking!!!

Hi Amy. I find myself totally addicted to these YA angel fantasy books, and have read most of the series available. I am now so sorry I bumped into you later because in my opinion your style of writing far exceed most of the other "top" publishers!! All I want from this series is to have a beginning, a middle and an end. Some publishers are already at book 7, and if you check on the previous book nothing really changes or moves forward = moneymaking to me instead of being a stellar writer, like you. You even got me to like Brennus.... A little. Keep up the good work , any word on the publication date of book 4 yet? Xx

I am loving your books! I found them on amazon in my "Recommended For You' section and the descriptions spoke right to my interests. As a teacher, I am always looking for 'new' authors and different books. I was VERY surprised that this didn't follow the 'normal' realm of paranormal books out there. It was very refreshing. Thank you! I have shared my thoughts on Shelfari and will be telling everyone to read your books!

Amy - I have finally finished reading the third book in the premonition series. It took me all of one week to finish three books. I was so engrossed in Evie's story that I couldn't put it down. I have a soft spot for her soulmate and I keep reading just to know if they're going to be okay. Don't get me wrong - I love her Angel too, but I can't help being torn! I am so glad you wrote this series. Keep up the excellent work! I can't wait for the fourth book!
