I just finished reading Sea of Stars, and I loved it! This is the first real Urban Fantasy type book I've read, and I really enjoyed it! You are seriously a genius, Ms Bartol! It was so much fun reading about and trying to picture the unique Etharian technology, and I especially appreciated your attempts to provide scientific explain actions for how some of the stuff worked, like Krickets hair, and the sonic saezers. I love Krickets inner dialogue-she's funny! And do you know, by the end of this second book, I actually found myself trying to remember if some of the lingo- chester, lurker, blushers, polar, nim, recurve- were actually Etharian or Earthling! ;-) It's like when you learn another language, and realize some of the foreign words make more sense than your own, or someone asks you a question and the only way you think of answering it is with a word or phrase we don't even use in English.

Is "Darken the Stars" really the end? Is this really how the sort ends? This is it? I just finished the book. And after imensly enjoying the 1st 2 books, this one is so disappointing. It was well written. You you succeeded in making me like Kyon. As much as I don't want to, I do. But...the story can't just stop like this. You can't give so many books and adventures to Evie, an inferior charachter, and just drop this story off like this. Please, this series is so much better than the Premonition Series. Please don't allow it to end this way.

I completly agree with you, she ended it with so may unawnserd questions. Like what does Kyon do when he wakes up? Does Trey come looking for her? does her sister come after her, does she become ruler? Does she meet with her dad? There really needs to be another book, witht the way she ended it.

Please consider a fourth book that could better tie up all the love triangle loose ends.....please!!!!

Just finished the 3rd. book in the Kricket Series. I found this a very enjoyable story. Listened to all three twice. I notice it is directed to young adults. I am 73 and some of my friends ages-70-76 want you to know this is a keeper for all ages. Sad no forth book is coming as we licked almost all the caritas in this adventure. Thanks for the interment.

Yes, I too am rooting for Kyon. I (and Kricket also) need for him to keep his promise that he will find her anywhere. She has Phlix. But she needs the one who made so many efforts to save here, again, and again. Right until the end, he kept choosing her. I also agree that these characters are not just young adult intended, I am 47 and cannot put them down. Amy, please reconsider a healed Kyon (thanks to Kricket) headed back to Earth, with Fulton, to get his girl! You are awesome.

Gotta say, I do love the ending of the trilogy. That said, there needs to be another book (or series based around someone else) that follows events. I think the ending is the best one for the main character. While he was nowhere near a healthy partner, I would like to see where Kyon's character development was going. Great series, look forward to reading more of your books!

After reading the three installments of the Kricket series I couldn't help but notice there were many many things left unsaid. For example, many times in Darken the Stars Kyon promised he would find Kricket wherever she went, and as for Trey and Krickets goodbye, well to be honest there wasn't one! (:

First, let me start by saying that this is one of the best series I have ever read, and I have read a lot of series. You are without a doubt a masterful and creative author and I hold nothing but the deepest respect for you. That being said, the ending of this book was not necessarily bad, but it left so much to be desired. It is totally within your right to leave it at that, they are your characters and it is your story, but I can't help but want more... well closure. There are so many questions left within me and I can't help but feel that there has to be more. So I humbly ask that should you find any mercy and generosity towards the fans of your and Kricket's world, you will take pity on us and give us one more book. I know I have no right to ask for more, but still I will petition, nay beg you to put me, and other fans, out of this misery. If that simply cannot happen howevet, I wold still like to thank you for the journey this series has taken me on and I'm sure I will grown out of this excruciating and crushing emotional trama and desolation... hopefully. So thank you, and please plEASE, PLEASE have pity on our poor hearts.

But since there are none, im even contemplating to do it on my own, just to put out this misery. I can't stand kyon and kricket not being happy together. I know fans shouldnt be presumptuous by asking for more but.. please, Amy, please.

I'm addicted to reading, it's a problem, I can EASLIY go through more than 30 books a month- like I said, it's a problem. That being said- this was a fantastic series, but the end effing sucked- like seriously, it was wacked and horrible. The series was filled with SO MUCH LIFE! But the ending was completely hollow and empty. Yeah, great, she has friends and "freedom," but so much more was left behind. Completely weak ending, I respect your decisions and your writing but apparently you wanted to crush not only your characters souls in the ends, but your fans as well so you decided to drop a nuclear bomb and dessemate the ending of your fantastic series. Good job :)

Please finish the story, or at least give us an idea of where the story will go. Kricket is a lovable character, Trey is the handsome man we alway want to save us, and Kyron the one who complicates everything, but where do they go? How can you leave us to puzzle over if Astrid is really as heartless or spineless as the few glimpses tried to make her, or how will Trey ever forgive himself, how will Kricket ever forgive him? Will her scumbag father ever realize he is a complete loser? Will Phlix find love with Griffen? If Kricket and Trey reconcile will Kyron find peace and love in another, maybe Astrid? There are too many important questions to leave us hanging like this. This was one of the few YA stories where I did not know where it was going the whole time, there were so many surprises, but just because surprises are good does not mean that this ending is good. These beings live for millennia, surely there is more to tell, and we are begging you to tell it.

I am never one to add a comment to a page like this, however, I thoroughly enjoyed your books, having read your premonition series first. I just finished the third book of your knicker series last night and I must admit I was left feeling lost and sad. Is it truly how you wanted to end the series, it seems that there was so much unfinished business and kicked, the fighter, was left to run away, and as we know how much she was loved by Kyon and Trey, I fail to think this was the end. No hopes for continuing the story? Just until an ending that leaves us with emotions, rather than an air of uneasy sadness.

Each time I have read the books I have completely devoured them (I actually once finished re-reading the entire series in one 25-hour period.) I would love if another entire series sprung from the depths of this one - there are many, many questions left in the air (does anyone know a forum where we can chat about where we hope the books will lead us?) and I know another series surrounding Kricket would be loved and adored by so many of your fans.

Writing to join the chorus of readers urging you to write a fourth book in the Kricket series. Ideally, book 4 answers he burning question of whether she winds up with Trey or Kyon. My vote is that Trey and Astrid work closely together and fall in love. For Kyon, there can be no one else but Kricket. He travels to Earth, finds Kricket and learns that she is expecting his child. KRicket finishes college while Kyon makes a fortune as an inventor. In the Epilogue they visit Astrid and Trey.

I started this series unaware of how addicting it would become. I have read this series over and over since it came out. At first I loved Trey and Kricket and HATED Kyon. I'll even admit to waiting to read the third installment just because it was her time with him. However the addiction won over and I read the book. OMG! Kyon! I'm now totally in love with Kyon. There are som many thing that played out in that last book that left me shocked and unable to move passed them. So I am doing something I never do. I am asking the author to continue. Please write another book! Even if it is a novella something would be better than the questions we were left with. Your talent with spinning words into another world that allows the readers to escape to and live through the character it amazing. I loved Kricket. Thanks for writing this series. I can't believe you just ended the story there! It's criminal! Now I will be forever plagued with thoughts of Kricket Trey Kyon, the cavars Astrid Giffen Pan. What happens next? Who goes to earth to find her. Because I'd lay money on both of them. And her crazy sister can still track her. Philix had to adjust to earth and I need that story to. There are FAR too many lose threads. This story is NOT finished. Don't just give up on them. They are to real to just be ditched in the void between the stars. Please, PLEASE. Finish their story. Please x

Wow...just finished the 3rd book and I just can't get on the Kyon bandwagon with everyone else. The promises Kricket makes to Trey in books 1 and 2 are just trashed in book 3, not to mention all that they went through together to save each other. Even after that he still stands by her side and fights for her freedom in the end. Gah!!!! So frustrating!!! Kyon is a total knob knocker in my opinion and just wanted to control her and use her to obtain power. I don'the really think he knew what love was. But all that aside, it was a great trilogy that I would definitely love to see at least one more book to finish off the syory. ***Just hoping it ends with the right guy!

I totally agree with you! I'm in the middle of reading the third book right now and I'm completely shocked at how it's turning out. Also looking through the comments I can't help but be shocked as well because of all the things that they went through in the first and second has seem to disappear and everyone's talking about Kricket and Kyon like he's been there for her like Trey has. And all I'm thinking about is the promises Trey and Kricket made. There entire relationship has been halted and didn't even get to fully blossom like it should have and I'm really sad. I also hope that she writes a 4th book in which Trey would finally get his chance that was stolen to be back in Kricket's life as her intended lover!!

I couldn't sleep at night until I finished each book! The storyline and characters are so well-written and relatable you can't help but fall in love with them and hang on their every move. I can't stop thinking about each of their stories and wondering about their next chapters. I hope your new series is a continuation of this one. Please please please don't stop! I will pick up every new installment. We need to know how Kricket's story ends!!!

PLEASE continue writing the Kricket series. There is so much more story to be told. Book 3 just cannot be the end of this marvelous series.

I... Am awake at two in the morning. This is not something I do, especially on a week day. I just finished the Kricket series, and I took to the Internet, feeling desperate. I have never fallen more in love with a protagonist than Kricket, and each character she encounters is so uniquely broken. They are casualties of the uproar of their time. I love all of these characters for different reasons. I just... I really feel like I need more time with them. I don't feel like the story is flawed, or incomplete. We should always have the sense that a set of characters is so real that their lives go on on some separate plane outside of the realm of the story... But this is different. It's like my heart is broken for my friends and I need more. They deserve more of their stories told.

Ok. So I am heartbroken that there will not be any more books for Kricket. I am 32 years old and it seriously has had me in a tizzy the passed couple of days that I will only be able to imagine her future. It's not enough for me! So many questions that were left unanswered, and so much pain that needs worked through. I loved Premonition series so I gave Kricket a try, and in 3 days read them all. I couldn't put them down! I am in need of closure. Please reconsider and finish the story.

The Kticket Series is wonderful as we're your Premonition Series, but I cried at reading the last meeting of Cricket & Trey. I hope you reconsider and make a 4th book or start a Trey Series to find her. I have to agree it feels unfinished. I need more to read from them.

As you can see from all the comments above the Kricket series is wonderful. But the story just does not feel finished. Could you at least comment on whether you would even consider writing a fourth book? Thank you

I've just finished rereading the Kricket series for the third time. I was hoping that I would gain more closure this time but all I've gotten is another book hangover. I'm desperate for another installment. So many things were left wide open. Maybe you left it open for us, the readers, to come up with our own endings but I know I would enjoy your story better. Please write one!! Please! I just wanted to throw my request for a sequel in with all the others posted here. I absolutely love the entire series and it's one of the few I keep returning to. The characters and their stories are so well developed that it's hard to let go. You succeed in even making an antagonist a sympathetic character. That's not something I run across very often. Regardless of whether you write a fourth or not, please accept my thanks for the trilogy.

I truly loved the Kricket series! I just took a day off work so I could finish Darken the Stars (so worth it), but NOOOO please don't let the series end this way!! Kricket, Kyon & Trey are my favorite characters in years & I'm just obsessed about them. There are just too many questions left unanswered! Ms. Bartol, you're so wonderfully imaginative, could you please continue the story?!

I agree with all the other Kricket fans...we desperately need a book 4. This was such a moving series and you brought the characters to life. Please consider continuing this series as it has moved so many of us.

I loved this series but the ending was so disappointing! I'd really like to know what happened after Kyon woke up or if Trey decided to go after her... please!!! A fourth book would be much appreciated!!!

Omg... I have sat and read these books in just 3 days. Please, please, please finish the story!!! It's 3am and I am left lost and confused. I needed an ending, but there just wasn't one. These books were absolutely amazing and I love them so much. I have never left a comment on an authors blog before. Please do something to show us how this truly ends.

I never do this....leave a messag for the author, but I just had to. I agree with most everyone else that we need a fourth book! I absolutely LOVED the first 2 and the third was good, but it ended on a cliffhanger! How can this be the ending?! I think I understand what you were trying to do, but somehow the execution didn't work. There were just way too many questions left unanswered. If you want her to have strength and decide to be alone rather than pick a man, fine, but it has to be done in a way that all questions are answered and there is an absolute ending to the series. You could have even done that by writing just one or two more chapters in book 3. Please, please write another book!!! 😩😩🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Loved this series. i don't know that I have ever been captivated by a world as I was by Ethar and Kricket and the entire cast of characters. I felt like we learned about so much and were introduced to so many new people in the third book and it couldn't possibly be the last. each of the other books wrapped and closed leaving an opening, but I didn't feel lost and confused. there's gotta be more to Kricket's story that you have written. Please announce that you have pity on our souls and wrap this series in a way it deserves!

You have to finish the story!!! Please!! What a great series! We need a 4th book!! What happens to Kyon? What happens to Trey? Does Astrid really become Emptess or does her father rule in her stead? Why develop Giffen's character and allude to a possible romance with Kricket?? And what happens to Kricket and Phlix?? Argh!! This can't be it!! Thank you for a great story!!

I just finish reading series three of darken the star and I love the book but extremely disappointed with the ending, I love both trey and kyon (personally I was hoping she choose kyon) however the ending left me feeling that even though cricket escape she left without her true love, leaving us wondering is worse, this is the first book that I read from this other and I have to say I love the way she write the story because it was not predictable, but the ending makes me wonder should I continue reading other book written by this author will they have the same unfinished ending.

I have read The Kricket Series, as well as The Premonition Series, at least twice. Amy is an amazing storyteller, I too asked her once to consider a 4th book to continue Kricket's story. But here is the deal, Amy told a story, and her story had an ending. Little tip for everyone, you don't get an author to write another book in 3 book series, by insulting this writer, criticizing the story, or telling this author her "overall writing is good." Your comments are offensive at this point and you should be thanking Amy for creating a story we lost ourselves in, for creating characters we either adored or fell in love with. So, enough already. Thank you Amy, I am a Kyon and Brennus fan for all time!

I absolutely loved the Kricket Series. In the beginning, I loved Trey. However by book 3, I realized that Kyon was for Kricket. I hated the ending!!! Please bring Kyon to look for Kricket. Her family and Trey does not deserve her. Maybe I feel this way from my personal history. But I believe that Amy Bartol has a gift of understanding the less fortunate. She tapped into my deep seated feelings. I loved the series.

Hi, my name is Isabela and I am a brazilian reader! I absolutely loved The Kricket Series, i was rooting for Kyon from the very beginning! I want to say that I would really love if there was a fourth book in the series! I understand that you saw the end of the third book as an good end to the series and that you have other books and deadlines, but I absolutely loved the characters and I can see how they could develop and bring more stories in to the world, specially in relation to a Kion and Krickett romance! Thank you very much for writing this!

Hi, my name is Elizabeth. I’ve reread the Kricket trilogy twice now and finally perked up the courage to write a comment. I just wanted to say that this series is so awesome and so original. Every time I read it I glean something that I missed or overlooked before! Also, I wanted to join the many many many others begging for a continuation to these character’s stories. Their loves and their challenges are so easy to attach to and get hooked on. You truly created vivid and original personalities in your work, and it would be such a privilege to read more if you feel the urge to continue with them. Thank you so much for your time and your wonderful books!
