You may have noticed my diminished presence on my social network sites. I know I haven't been around as much lately. I've been trying to focus on writing. The problem I have is that I get really distracted when I'm online, and then I don't write. I'm trying to find a balance between the two worlds. I think you're amazing and I want to let you in on what I'm doing and where I am with everything. Just in case you haven't seen it, I posted this on Facebook this week. It's a screenshot of Iniquity and Sea of Stars (The Kricket Series, Book 2). I've been working on both manuscripts at the same time. I did this when I wrote Incendiary and Under Different Stars. It worked well for me then. It helped me keep Incendiary from becoming stale. After I posted this picture on Facebook, I was scolded by a couple of people because I haven't given you an update on Iniquity in awhile. Sorry. I was also scolded for writing Sea of Stars (Kricket #2) at the same time as I'm writing Iniquity. Some don't like the fact that I'm working on both projects simultaneously. I understand your concerns. I have a couple of reasons why I'm working on the sequel to Kricket at the same time as Iniquity. 1). Working on the Kricket novel is helping me to write Iniquity. When I get stuck on something, I toggle over to the other manuscript and keep going. It allows me to sort out the issue by continuing to write and find the fun in it. I don't get in my head or worry over small details. I don't over think the problem. I work through it by WORKING. 2). Under Different Stars has been doing really well. Its success has recently garnered some interest from the national columns: USA Today HEA and io9. This, in turn, has helped piqued some interest from a couple of kick-ass publishers. Because of this, as well as the fact that readers don't want to wait a long time for this sequel, I need to be working on it now. I'm sorry if that makes some of you angry. You don't have to wait for me. You can read something else and fall in love with other characters in other books. I will understand your need to move on. I won't look at it as a breakup. We'll just call it what it is: giving each other space. (That was my attempt to find humor in the situation.) But, if you'd like to have a teaser from Iniquity, I can give you that. A Facebook follower requested a juicy BRENNUS and EVIE teaser for her birthday. So this is for you, Cassandra Riley. (This teaser has not been edited. It is in its raw form and subject to change.) TEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASE TEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASE TEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASE TEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASE TEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASE TEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASE TEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASERTEASE Brennus scoops me up in his arms and holds me to him. My hands go around the back of his neck and brush up against his velvet-soft black wings. He takes me to a gold silk-covered sofa. He magically retracts his massive wings through his shirt and into his back before he sits down on the cushions with me on his lap.
Brennus pulls the pins out of my hair one by one. My intricately woven hairstyle unravels with each lock he frees. “Emil might come back, Brennus,” I say worriedly, glancing at the double doors still wide open. Brennus sees my fear and lifts his hand; the doors violently swing closed with a slam. “Better?” His eyebrow lifts like it’s asking the question. I raise my hand and the furniture nearest the door slides across the floor and piles in front of it. I exhale and nod.

I think the problem with so much social media is that you feel so pressured. In the old days when people had to write letters there was probably a lot less fan chatter that made you feel like you might be failing people, which you are not. I love both book series and while I am dying for Iniquity, I loved Under Different Stars. So work in whatever way works for you.

It's like throwing a scrap of meat at the dogs whenever we try to bite AKA whenever we ask you when you're going to release Iniquity. You said early 2014 and we're in March. Remember when you promised last summer? It feels as if you're forgetting your original fans and everything else you say after that just sounds like excuses to me. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but this is what it looks like to me. -Cassie

Like I said, I'm okay with you breaking up with me, Cassie. I'm going to take my time with this book. That's not an excuse. It's what I'm doing. I'm just letting you know. I don't know many authors who would let you in on their decision-making process. As I said before, most people won't remember or care how long it took me to write the book, they'll only care if it was any good. Maybe you don't really understand how enduring a book can be? So if I miss this deadline that I've set for myself, then I miss it. I won't be bullied into putting out a book that isn't well-written to appease some readers and make a deadline. You may see this as a lack of integrity on my part. I think the lack of integrity would be to throw out any "scrap of meat" just to make money now.

How ungrateful can you be? SHEESH! If I could break up with you for Amy I would. It takes talent to write the way Amy does and I honestly feel as though few have the kind of talent she has. Hasn't anyone ever told you if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all? Let's see you write something of Amy's caliber.

Keep up the amazing work on BOTH series! You just write on whatever time frame you need, because whatever you are doing is working. We can pass the time re-reading the first few books of the Premonition series, they seem to get better every time I read them anyway! The first time I read the series, I was obsessed with Brennus and Russell and I COULDN'T STAND Reed. The second time through, I decided that maybe I didn't like Russell so much, and Reed was actually not too bad. I still loved Brennus though. But the third time through, although I still loved Brennus more than I should have, I had to admit that Reed was actually pretty awesome. Anyway, my point is that we love your stories and will wait however long it takes until you are ready to share the next chapter. :D

Your definitely not the only one who is rooting for Xavier, I mean I adore Reed but I cannot be sold with him any longer. And the reason to that is that Xavier was there first way before Reed. It would be just cruel for him to have waited so long for the love of his existence and protected her through all her life times for her to just end up with someone other than him. I feel for both Xavier and Russell I mean they have this endless love history with Evie that she cannot even remember. And to be honest the whole butterfly connection between Evie and Reed just sketches me out, it just doesn't seem natural I feel like they are a drug to one another that they can't live without. Remember in the 2nd book where Evie and Russell ran away from the from the other angels to protect them for dominion. Evie had complete panic attack like Russell stead "She acted like complete drug addicted junkie...

So Brennus's "moth wings" have grown to the length of his body? The last I remember "Incendiary", he was reborn with his fully grown white fairy wings, but they changed to little black moth wings. So they have grown to full size now? But they are still black moth wings? AImee certainly seems to be getting along well with him - but still has her soul, I am hoping. Worrisome. I'm anxious to see "Iniquity" come out - altho Heaven Knows I'll ready the whole book in a single day, I'm sure of it. LOL

At this point I realized it just seems right that Evie has a love for Brennus too! And Poor Brennus lost all the original fellas except his brother. Also loved the audiobooks and hope Inequity has same narrator since i have all! Also, the Krickett series is awesome so it is a bonus that you are already on 2nd for Krickett and Trey. Am i the only one rooting for Reed? Hes the only one who has managed to keep her alive this whole time while everyone else has tried to kill her. And he absolutely adores her and does everything possible to keep her safe. If he doesn't end up with her, this series was pointless.

The only people that I can imagine being angry at you for working on book 2 of under different stars are the ones who didn't read book 1 of under different stars. I'm fully invested in both series and I look at it as a blessing, not a burden that two of my favorite series are being worked on at the same time. Maybe the ones who are upset that Inquity hasn't come out yet should read Under Different Stars and stop complaining?

Amy, your books have reminded me how much I missed reading in the first place. Like you I work full time and raising 3 amazing girls with an awesome husband. I have no free time. Your books have reminded me how much I missed reading. Lets just say when I started reading this series in mid 2012, I knew nothing about you as an author but I took a chance and you grabbed my attention in the first few pages. So, yes, take your time, but like the others, I am anxious to read this book, but I want you to be happy with it and your fellow readers/fans to be happy with it. Which I know I will be. Okay, after 4 books now 5, I feel like Evie has really lived and seems way older so I guess that is why I have kind of a weird question but would Evie every have a baby? I know she is suppose to be young but she really has lived and she has had enough sex with Reed. Would be interesting for her to have something else to protect eventually. Just wondering.

Your question made me laugh for some reason...lol Even though it would be an interesting twist for Evie to have a child, I personally think that is not going to happen due to the fact that angel can't produce children. It may be possible for Evie to be able to breed because she is only an half angel but not with Reed or any other angel well maybe beside Russell. The only reason why Evie's father Tau was able to produce a child is because of Evie's very here mission on earth... :)

Becoming a superstar author is tough in the digital age when fans can tell you exactly how they feel at the click of a few keys. OMG! Now you know the truth--your fans are absolutely obsessed with your books and can hardly contain themselves! lol And it's okay....just do what you know is best and write till you are satisfied. You won't disappoint us by putting out a better book at this important crossroad in the story. The only thing you can do is give people a date for their calendar-- to check back with your progress on website or Facebook or just start a mail list to e-mail them a release date. I think if they are like me, keeping up with many different series, they just don't want to pass up a favorite book when they are this far into it. Many authors give their best guesstimates for book releases and when it falls through they just give a new estimate--and that's ok, cause their book is still on my calendar--I won't forget. Other authors have subscription lists and send out a personal e-mail update or release date info which is really appreciated. This keeps most fans satisfied...But don't sweat the small stuff, Amy. Your unruly fans LOVE YOUR BOOKS! They'll wait....You just write a great book--or ahem, two great books at the same time! More power to you--you know what you're doing. You go, girl!...lol ;) <3
