I just got back from UtopYA Con 2015.
I was relaxing and trying to finish Iniquity.
(What I was really doing.)
And then yesterday, my friend Rachel congratulated me on my
Penned Con award nominations for
Sea of Stars.
Sea of Stars
is nominated for:
1). Best Audiobook
It was like someone took it to 11!
(Shameless Spinal Tap reference)
I'm thrilled that the team at
is being recognized for their amazing work on
the Kricket Series!
Kate Rudd, Joe Sturgill, Dan Hill and everyone at Brilliance Audio!
That's not all!
Sea of Stars
is also nominated for:
2). Best Author of the Year
(My face when I was reading the nomination)
Then, I read the list of my fellow nominees.
(It felt a little like this.)
I'll have to practice my I'm-so-happy-for-you face
(Instead of this one)
Here's the good news:
The voting is open to the public!!
YOU CAN VOTE for your favorite nominee
in every category on the Penned Con 2015

Voting ends soon, so vote NOW!
Thank you !
The band played songs from all of their albums. I'm in love with their newest album Wilder Mind! If you haven't heard it yet, you must! Here is a link to it on Spotify! My favorite song is Only Love...or is it Wilder Mind...OH! Maybe it's Snake Eyes...it's so hard to choose!!!
After the concert, Rachel and I drove from Detroit to Nashville to attend the utopYA 2015 conference. For the next four days, we were treated to keynote speeches from Denise Grover Swank, Lauren Miller, and Kim Holden (DO EPIC!)
These ladies are so inspiring. I loved every second of their talks.
Denise and I have been friends since we signed books together at New York Comic Con in Oct. of 2014. I love her. Check out her books. They're amazing!
I was able to see some friends I knew and make some new friends along the way.
The world building panel discussion with C.J. Redwine, Helene Dunbar, and Marissa Meyer, and I was terrifying. Like in most of our books, almost no one got out alive. It was so interesting to me to hear their processes and the ways in which each of us tackles creating unique worlds for our readers to inhabit. I think Marissa Meyer and I might have opposite styles and approaches when we create, but I admire her so much for it! I think my editor would like me to take a page from her book and plot my stories prior to writing them instead of insisting upon being a pantser, but what's the fun in that? Bhahaaa! Poor Jason.
I was lucky enough to moderate the Past, Present, and Future of Publishing discussion with panelists Rebecca Donovan, Denise Grover Swank, A.G. Henley, and Rebecca Yarros! I'd tell you how it went, but then you'd be able to take over the publishing world and I can't have that. That's my job.
Mayhem at the utopYA 2015 awards
You know how SEA OF STARS was nominated for some awards? You remember how you voted for it on the official utopYA Con ballot? Well, you're all rockstars because your votes counted.
SEA OF STARS won for:
I have the most wonderful readers in the world! Thank you for these honors. I'll always cherish them for what they are: gifts from you to me.
Jason Kirk, you've made me grow as an author in ways that I never would've without your encouragement and expertise. Thank you. You ARE the best editor.
Ben Smith, your marketing of Sea of Stars got it read by a broad audience. You're amazing! Thank you for sending out an entire army of Zon-bots for me. I'm grateful.
Alex Carr, thank you for your support and for being a good sport on Twitter! When I accepted the award for Best Book Hangover, I might have told the audience that they had to tweet you and let you know. #SorryNotSorry ;)
Britt Rogers, thank you for helping at every turn along the way while I made the leap into the world of 47North.
Thank you, Tamar Rydzinski, for being the world's best agent! You worked so hard on the Kricket Series with me. I'm sending you some flowers, but not znous for obvious reasons.
The audio team at Brilliance Audio of Kate Rudd, Joe Sturgill, and Brad Hill are stellar. My line editing team was also impressive, especially Mark Steven Long. Thank you all!
To Regina Wamba,
Your cover designs are epic. Thank you for sharing your talent with me!
To Janet Wallace,
Your vortex still works. Every time I get near you I get sucked into a blackhole of awesome. It's a little scary.
To my Mom,
I love you. None of this was possible without you. Thank you.
To Tom, Max, and Jack,
I know we're out of food. I'll go to the grocery store tomorrow. How about Thai takeout tonight? You know where the menus are...
I can't wait to see what happens when Darken the Stars comes out in September! I'm crossing my fingers! Thank you all for being made of awesome!

I'm currently finishing up Iniquity, book #5 in the Premonition Series. I don't have a release date yet. As soon as it is completed, I'll sent up a pre-order for it and announce a release date. Thank you for reading my stories. I'm extremely grateful.
Among the stars, a young heroine faces the perils of war and the ferocity of love...
Eighteen-year-old Kricket Hollowell was looking for her place in the world when she discovered that the universe was bigger—and more dangerous—than she had ever dreamed. Now, whisked across space to the planet Ethar, Kricket learns that her genetic ability to see the future makes her a sought-after commodity…and the catalyst for war between her star-crossed parents’ clans. According to Alameedan prophecy, one house will rise to power and the other will be completely wiped out, and Kricket’s precognition is believed to be the weapon that will tip the scales.
A target of both the Rafe and the Alameeda houses, Kricket finds protection—and a home—in the arms of Trey, her Etharian bodyguard-turned-boyfriend. But her visions of what’s to come disturb her deeply, especially since she must discover whether the gift of foresight will allow her to rewrite the future, or if her fate is as immovable as the stars.
The highly anticipated sequel to Under Different Stars, winner of four 2014 utopYA Awards, three 2014 Penned Con Awards, and one 2014 Queen City Award.

I'm very excited to be included as a signing author in this year's event!
Please enter the online Raffecopter giveaway located at the end of this post for a chance to win signed paperbacks of Under Different Stars and Sea of Stars, the first two books of the Kricket Series!
I've been asked by several readers if I'll have copies of the Premonition Series
available at ABF 2015. I'll definitely have some paperbacks at my table. Unfortunately, that is not the case for the Kricket Series. The bookseller won't be selling copies of Under Different Stars at the event. If you would like a signed copy of
Under Different Stars, please purchase a paperback online before the event and bring it with you.

As a bonus to readers who bring a paperback copy of Under Different Stars to Austin Book Fest 2015, I'll have FREE paperback copies of Sea of Stars to giveaway!
My supplies of Sea of Stars are limited, however. I will only have 25 copies to giveaway. To make sure you get one, please see me as soon as possible when the event begins. To be clear, I'll give one FREE copy of Sea of Stars away to the first 25 people who bring a paperback copy of Under Different Stars with them for me to sign. Sea of Stars doesn't release until March 31, 2015, so this book is not available to purchase yet (you will be getting it before almost everyone else if you get there early). Good luck!! I can't wait to meet you at ABF 2015!

EXCLUSIVE TEASER FROM FOR THE GAME
I know many of you have been anticipating the conclusion of London and Cooper’s story and you don’t have much longer to wait. It releases this week – February 19!
Read below for an exclusive teaser from FOR THE GAME (Playing for Keeps #2)!
“You’re gonna have to stop looking at me like that,” Cooper said, eyebrows raised.
“Looking at you like what?”
“Like you want to eat me,” he said.
Stunned, I reeled back. “I was not looking at you like that.”
“Relax.” He stopped walking and faced me. “I like it. I like knowing that you missed me as much as I missed you. God, London, I was in agony on the flight wondering if things would be the same between us. Wondering if we’d have that same spark. When you came running to me, I can’t even describe how happy it made me; how relieved I felt. And I realized that we aren’t the same as we were before. We’re even better. Being away from each other didn’t tear us apart. It’s made us closer.” He stepped toward me until our chests bumped. His face was so close our breath mingled together, a mixture of mint toothpaste and cherry lip gloss. “I can honestly say I’ve never loved you more than I do in this moment.”
“That’s how I feel to,” I told him honestly.
“So don’t be embarrassed at the way you were staring at me.” He smiled. “Because, trust me, I liked it. And for the record, I was looking at you the same way.”
For those of you who haven’t read FOR THE WIN (Playing for Keeps #1) yet, there is still time. The book is exclusive with Amazon and free with kindle unlimited!
London Miller has one best friend.
She lives in the pages of the books she reads, preferring the safety of fictional worlds over the dark and scary reality of her own life. Books aren't her escape...they're her salvation.
Cooper Montgomery has one true love.
When he's on the mound, throwing a pitch, the darkness of his world fades away. The game is something he can control, something he can count on.
A twist of fate brings London and Cooper together, a curve ball that forces them both outside of their comfort zones. As they spend time together, a relationship begins to blossom and both of them start to believe that there just might be something bright and beautiful in their lives.
However, the game changes when your heart is on the line. You have to play with everything you have for the win.
Look for FOR THE GAME on February 19 and happy reading!
Amber Garza is the author of the Delaney’s Gift Series, the Prowl Trilogy, suspense novel Engraved, and many contemporary romance titles, including Star Struck, Tripping Me Up and For the Win.
